Strength vs Function: What Actually Matters in Return to Sport


An athlete finishes rehabilitation after months of hard work.

They have regained their range of motion.

Their pain has improved.

Their strength numbers look better than they did a few months ago.

On paper, everything seems to be moving in the right direction.

Yet when they step back onto the basketball court, soccer field, or volleyball court, something still feels different.

They are slower getting to the ball.
